Welcome to the Project Website for the Dallas Floodway Project Environmental Impact Statement

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Fort Worth District, in partnership with the City of Dallas, is preparing an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS), pursuant to Section 102 of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) as implemented by the regulations promulgated by the Council on Environmental Quality (40 Code of Federal Regulations Parts 1500-1508) and USACE Engineering Regulation 200-2-2.

The EIS will analyze the potential comprehensive environmental consequences resulting from the implementation of proposed levee remediation, flood risk management, ecosystem restoration, recreation enhancement, and other proposed projects in and around the Dallas Floodway, in Dallas, Texas.

This project website aims to facilitate public involvement in the Dallas Floodway Project EIS, as well as solicit input on the Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act process associated with the EIS.

Proposed Pavaho Pumping Plant Improvements
Environmental Assessment

The USACE and City of Dallas have prepared a Final EA for proposed improvements to the Pavaho Pumping Plant. By improving the Pavaho Pumping Plant, the USACE and City of Dallas would be able to provide improved flood risk management to people and property in the Pavaho Basin.

The EA public review and comment period ran from May 7 to June 6, 2010. The public review and comment period is now closed. The USACE and City of Dallas considered all relevant comments received. The USACE, Fort Worth District Commander signed the Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) that authorizes the proposed action on June 20, 2010.

Current EIS Project Information:

  • The NEPA and Section 106 Public Scoping Commenting Period has ended (December 16, 2009).
  • The USACE is preparing the Draft EIS.
  • The Cultural Resource Investigation is on-going.
